Interview
with Y.Tyma –
Mr.
Tyma,
how
would
define
the nowadays situation in Ukraine. –
The calm
before the storm, but the storm in a teacup. Our society is tired and
disappointed so greatly, that couldn’t make any serious advance. That is
witnessed by events provoked from “above”. I mean Kosa Tuzla conflict and the
situation around Yushchenko tour of Ukraine. Regime’s efforts to stir up the
society by setting some on against others according to a principle “divide and rule” have no desired
effect. But an analysis of recent events in Donetsk, Sumy and Lviv shows us that
the authority is successfully trying to drive Yushchenko, a possible
presidential contender, into right wing of Ukrainian policy. The confirmation of
it is a behavior of Yushchenko, his party and his Communist allies, who openly
play up to regime. Thus it we can understand a negative attitude of President
administration toward our coalition “Rukh za natsiyu” (Movement for Nation). The
regime want to see in right-wing not us but Jushchenko, in order to narrow his
electorate. –
So,
the activity of “Rukh za natsiyu” is impartially advantageous to Yushchenko
himself, isn’t it? –
Yes, it is
so, but Viktor Andriyovych doesn’t decide whom to follow or to support. He is
just a flag. Yushchenko has no his own clear-cut behavior. None knows in what
way will someone turn him tomorrow. You see, it is intolerable to such a
politician as Yushchenko to commit such errors in Donetsk during convention of
“Nasha Ukraina”. I think that a negative attitude of his party to our coalition
has rather non-political reason. Our coalition’s leadership consists only of
Ukrainians. So we follow not liberal but nationalistic policy and Ukrainian
nation’s interests. Naturally, that our behavior displeases those who lay claims
to our Ukraine. As for me, it is incomprehensible until now whether Yushchenko
is able to struggle for president post or not, because his political activity,
if it is possible to say, is marked by support of nowadays President’s regime.
It is said today that Yushchenko was undoubtedly right when in 2001 he rescued
Kuchma of popular indignation, naming us a fascists but President a father. Thus
the conclusion arises in itself – if Kuchma run for the third term, Yushchenko
wouldn’t go against his “father”. –
You
have touch on the events of 2001. What were the reasons of “Ukraine without Kuchma” action’s
defeat? –
Struggle against
Kuchma, that UNA-UNSO and related organizations have been conducting,
unfortunately, was foredoomed to failure. In accordance to principle “if you
couldn’t stop a process, you should lead it” an initiative in struggle was
intercepted by “money-bags” with Y. Tymoshenko in chief, who joined the action
with their “fighting” squad led
by D.
Korchynsky. So, the action was turned to farce. As a result – a tragic outcome
of March 9 and an enduring trial to our comrades, which witnessed that there was
no one but UNA-UNSO who fought against Kuchma regime. After March 9 there were
many camp-followers wanted to get into the list of anti-Kuchma struggle. The
great sums of money were enabled to cheat the voters. Also governmental and
non-governmental organizations attached to. I’ve already mentioned that so-called
opposition was at one with regime in question of UNA-UNSO destruction. The
firsts don’t need rivals; the seconds don’t need fighters on regime. And such
opposition wants to change a regime. But will they succeed? The opposition talk
and live in the same manner as regime, and has the same privileges and
advantages that were given by regime. I don’t understand why should Kuchma hit a
bottle to lay off a stress, when it’s better for him to drink to opposition’s
health, because they are no dangerous for him. I am sure that from he has more
troubles from his company than opposition.
